Zdzislaw Beksinski was born in Poland in 1929, he studied architecture, but he did not like his profession, and soon began to feel passion for photography and sculpture, a field in which he made some works in plastic and wire, all of troubling issues, but the painting and drawing generally prevailed, and began his drawings depicts what he called "fantastic realism", influenced by abstract styles, Baroque and Gothic, and adding, as was evolving his work touches of surreal.
To Beksinski, his works were too personal and unclassifiable in fact not allow anyone the encasillara in any particular style, nor put them title. It was lover the exhibits, and did not have much hope that his works people liked them, but his 1st exhibition in 1964 was a resounding success and all of his works were sold.
He devoted himself to painting, creating disturbing images and very detailed trying to achieve his goal: "I want to paint the same as if you were photographing dreams". His perfection made in 1977 burned much of his work in the backyard.
His work did not match his personality as Beksinski, despite his shyness and modesty, was a very nice person who loved to talk. But in the late 90s, life began to play tricks on the artist, making his personal life into something as disturbing as his work.
In 1998 Zofia, his wife, and died a few months later, his son Tomasz, a popular television presenter, took his own life. The Beksinski himself found the lifeless body of his son something he left untouched the rest of his life. In February 2005, Kupiec Robert, the son of the concierge of the building where he lived Beksinski, the artist borrowed money, he refused, and the morning of February 21, 2005, the body of the painter appeared with 17 stab wounds. Kupiec pleaded guilty and is serving 25 years in prison in Warsaw.
